A magnificent wellness hotel in Italy's Dolomite mountains, with wonderful facilities and breathtaking vistas - includes breakfast, five-course dinner, and more
  • Dolomite dreaming: Welcome to the Eisack Valley, an idyllic destination for year-round outdoor pursuits. In winter, nearby Mount Plose is your go-to for snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing and one of Europe's longest toboggan runs, while in summer the pine-covered mountains turn into a hiking and mountain biking paradise. Get active on the slopes or take it slow in the magnificent outdoor pool, then retreat to your super-stylish guest room or suite for a stay that blends modern luxury with timeless alpine-chic.

  • Wine and dine: Fuel up for long days in the great outdoors with a locally-sourced, nourishing breakfast, and return for a sumptuous Alpine-meets-Mediterranean dinner inspired by the area's rich culinary heritage. Expect a wide variety of dishes that make use of the bountiful local produce - chestnuts from the region's soaring trees make regular appearances.

  • Wellness at its core: Nature and wellbeing go hand in hand here, with themed facilities inspired by - you guessed it - the area’s iconic chestnut trees. Expect unique treatments, including a chestnut bath, organic chestnut sauna and treatments using chestnuts, grape mace, apples and Alpine herbs, alongside hydrotherapy areas, a steam room, solarium and more.

How to get there

Taubers Unterwirt Aktiv & Vitalhotel lies near the cities of Bolzano and Merano in northern Italy's South Tyrol region. The closest airport is just over an hour's drive away, across the Austrian border in Innsbruck. Once you arrive at the hotel, there are plenty of options for public transport. However, if you wish to go further afield, we recommend hiring a car to make the most of this beautiful region.

Josef-Telser-Straße 2, 39040 Velturno, Italia

Located in the small village of Feldthurns, you'll be right at the heart of South Tyrol’s picturesque Eisack Valley. Step outside to explore the Renaissance castle, cobblestone streets, old farmsteads and gentle rolling hills, or head over to the regional capital of Bolzano for postcard-perfect architecture, historic churches and fascinating museums - one of which houses Otzi, the famous 5,000-year-old ice mummy.

In winter, choose between the town's own small ski slope or the larger Plose, Seiser Alm and Sella Ronda ski areas, serviced by the hotel's handy shuttle service. And if you're here for some alpine fun in the sun, you've got an endless network of hiking and mountain biking trails at your doorstep, through dense forests, dramatic cliffs, glittering mountain lakes and flower-filled fields. So if you're looking to unleash your inner Heidi, simply lace up your boots, or make the most of South Tyrol’s regional buses, cable cars and mountain railways to help you get around.
