  • Self-care with a view: Your Alpine wellness journey begins at Alder Spa, where all of your self-care prayers will be answered. Then, choose between two scenic pools, before sunbathing on the large lawn. There’s also a whirlpool - ideally positioned for Dolomite views.

  • BBQ bites: The restaurant boasts everything you would expect from a wellness retreat: delicious organic fare, fresh produce, and high-quality, local products. Savour traditional South Tyrolean flavours, and then wash down gastronomic delights with a tantalising trip to the stone-walled wine cellar. And, once a week, you can enjoy a barbecue amid Dolomite views at the hotel’s very own mountain hut, set on the picturesque Villandro Alp plateau.

Sonnenhotel Adler, Vicolo Franz von Defregger, 7, 39040 Villandro BZ, Italy

You’ll be staying in the village of Villanders, located in the heart of South Tyrol’s Iscaro Valley. Embraced by stunning mountain landscapes filled with vibrant meadows, Alpine huts, and the Dolomites resting in the distance, this quaint gem is the perfect place for a revitalising retreat. Set on a gentle slope, the village enjoys dreamy panoramic views, enhanced by the ever-present sunlight that is said to bathe its cobblestone streets up to 300 days each year.

Of course, the village’s main draw is the Villandro Alp, rising 2,000 metres above this enchanting town. Grab your hiking boots, cycle gear, or your skiing poles in the winter months, and revel in the endless amount of activities on offer. And, if you fancy a change of scenery, the medieval town of Chiusa - known as the “city of artists” - is only a 10-minute drive away.
