- Dreamy address: As one of the world’s most beautiful cities, when you’re in Budapest you want to make sure you’re not not staying out in the sticks; this isn’t a problem at Hotel Nemzeti Budapest, which stands tall in pride of place right on the city’s Grand Boulevard. In addition to the ultra-central location, you’re also right by a well-connected metro station, a 24-hour tram and several buses – in short, the city is yours for the taking!
- Grand lodgings: The hotel itself has been welcoming guests into its luxurious halls since 1896, and although the impressive façade has remained largely unchanged since then, the place is now kitted out with comfort and modernity in mind. Bold colours and funky furnishings give life to the rooms, whereas the communal spaces remain traditionally styled, which instils a real sense of grandeur into the building.
- Delicious dining: Kickstart the day with a varied selection of food from the bountiful buffet breakfast, or if you prefer, something cooked to order from the à la carte menu. Then in the evening you’ll be welcomed into Gallery Café for tasty dinners that showcase the best of Hungarian cuisine (called Hungarikum); perhaps you’ll be enticed by the goulash soup, or the signature burger. Pair your meal with the highest quality local wine, and for those special occasions, a glass or two of champagne.
How to get there
Hotel Nemzeti Budapest is in the centre of Budapest, Hungry. It’s an easy 40-minute drive from Budapest Airport, and for stress-free travel the hotel offers an airport transfer service. Alternatively, you can get the 100E bus from the airport, which takes you into the city centre; from here it’s a 10-minute walk to the hotel.

Be sure to soak in the steaming outdoor thermal pools at the Széchenyi Spa, which sits in the middle of a city park, before exploring the Gothic Buda Castle, with its collection of museums and romantic gardens. Then, sip Hungarian schnapps in one of the iconic crumbling ruin bars.
