Escape to an enviable wellness retreat in Slovenia's picturesque Pohorje Mountains - includes breakfast, dinner, and wellness perks
  • Mountain retreat: Alpine-style chalets and a superb wellness centre in Slovenia’s Pohorje mountain range form the backdrop of Pohorje Village Wellness & Spa Resort. Nestled in a pine forest, the wellness village is a picturesque little mountain dwelling, with fantastic views and ski-to-door access in the winter months. The light and airy rooms are very comfy and have their own private balconies, so you can admire the view with a coffee in the morning.

  • Epic wellness: From an extreme Finnish sauna and Turkish steam bath to an ice cave and cooling Kneipp pool, the Silence of the Forest wellness centre is undoubtedly the main attraction here. In a separate space, there's a highly luxurious Moroccan hammam sauna for pure indulgence.

  • Culinary delights: Kick-start your day at Bolfenk Restaurant with the mighty buffet breakfast options – it’s the perfect way to set you up for the slopes or roaming through the hills. In the afternoon, park yourself next to the fire in the Lobby Bar with a good book and hot chocolate, and come evening, juicy roasts, mushroom soup with buckwheat mash, and blueberry pie are just some of the specialities on hand to delight.

There's an amazing amount of exciting activities to get stuck into in and around the primeval forest Šumik. For an adrenaline kick on two wheels, head to the Bike Park Pohorje where you can hurtle down the slopes of Mariborski Pohorje in a rush of phenomenal speed. For those who prefer their biking opportunities without the breakneck speeds, there are many great trails, varying in distance and difficulty. With a plethora of beautiful lakes and waterfalls, exploring the region on foot can be just as rewarding.

Mariborsko Pohorje is the largest ski centre in Slovenia, so come winter, don the skis and head down the slopes. There are some 40 kilometres of spectacular slopes, suitable for all levels of experience. For first timers, there are a number of ski schools that operate in the area to show you the snowy ropes.
