With the beautiful Forest of Arden all around you and the spectacular Aylesford and Championship Arden golf courses at your fingertips, you won’t have to look far for scenic country pursuits. But should you wish to get exploring, Warwickshire’s eclectic mixture of sprawling countryside and historic towns has plenty to keep you busy. Start with a half-hour’s drive to Warwick Castle, whose beautiful grounds, soaring stone turrets and 1000-year-old history make for an enchanting day out. Gaze out over the battlements or catch a live jousting tournament, then take a breezy five-minute walk to Warwick’s historic centre.

Stroll through Jephson Gardens to the beautiful Royal Pump Rooms at nearby Royal Leamington Spa, or head a little further south to Stratford-upon-Avon, the famed birthplace of William Shakespeare. You’ll find endless timber houses here, from the building where the Bard himself was born to Anne Hathaway’s cottage, Mary Arden’s Farm, the Tudor World museum and more. Theatre fans can settle down to a show at the Swan Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Theatre, while art lovers should make a beeline for Compton Verney Art Gallery, housed in a majestic manor just outside the town.
