Lerchpeuntgut, Wölting 35, 5580 Tamsweg, Austria

Located south of Salzburg and tucked away amongst the Lungau Mountains, the historic market town of Tamsweg is a nature-lover’s idyll, and packed with alpine charm. With 493 peaks around the region, the landscape unfolds around you with picturesque views at every turn. In winter, excellent snow conditions make the area a prime spot for skiers, snowboarders and snow-shoe walkers, while the town itself is brimming with cosy appeal, from folk music to delicious local cuisine and traditional festivals.

As well as the many captivating peaks, lakes and waterfalls around the area, you’ll also find some fascinating historical nuggets around the region, including the nearby Moosham Castle. A fairytale mediaeval castle with an infamous history, it was once the site of Europe’s biggest witch trials, and is still rumoured to be home to werewolves - the only thing we can guarantee you'll be seeing is an impressive art collection.
