Property details

A five-star, adults-only Hersonissos hotel facing the Sea of Crete, with a fabulous spa – includes breakfast, dinner and optional room upgrades.
  • All-white everything: Insula Alba is Latin for ‘white island’, and the hotel itself is a beautifully whitewashed bolthole nestled close to the shores in the vibrant resort of Hersonissos. Its selection of swimming pools – including a river pool, bridges and terraces make the resort feel like a series of islands; wherever you look, you feel connected to the water.

  • Designed for relaxation: With a serene spa, restful bedrooms, an on-site fitness centre and two delicious restaurants, all you need to do is pack your flip flops, choose a good book and get set for some serious good vibes. Plus the hotel is strictly adults only, so there’s no chance of a kids’ club disturbing your zen.

  • Authentic cuisine: There are two restaurants to tempt your tastebuds: a main buffet restaurant where breakfast is served and dinners feature delicious Greek and international treats, and the a la carte restaurant Culinarium, where local dishes (don’t miss the grilled meats) are accompanied by fabulous wines and cocktails. There are two bars, too: one by the pool and a piano bar on the terrace.

How to get there

Insula Alba Resort & Spa is located in Hersonissos, on Crete's northern coastline. It's a half-hour drive (21 kilometres) from Heraklion Airport N. Kazantzakis. Alternative flights arrive at Chania Airport, which is around two and a half hours to the west.

While there’s plenty to do at the resort, Crete’s spellbinding scenery beckons. Explore the ancient towns of Rethymnon or Agios Nikolaos or discover the many dreamy golden beaches along the northern coast. Inland there are plenty of scenic hiking and cycling paths, and your camera is a must-pack essential to capture the postcard-perfect scenes.

History buffs can make the half-hour’s drive to the island's capital of Heraklion, to discover the city dotted with reminders of Crete's ancient and mythological past - think fortresses (such as the 16th-century Koules Fortress), frescoes, archaeological museums and baths. Other thrilling sights include the Minoan Palace of Knossos and the archaeological sites of the Arkadi and Preveli monasteries.
