Property details

A beautifully renovated country estate between Toulouse and Carcassonne, perfect for exploring dreamy South West France - includes breakfast
  • Hotel with history: In splendid isolation on the borders of the Haute Garonne and Aude, this 17th-century honeyed stone abode is the perfect jumping off point for exploring South West France. On the doorstep are medieval citadels, dreamy canals, terracotta cities and much more - but you might find quiet evenings by the fire and strolls in the hotel’s grounds are just the thing you need.

  • Idyllic surroundings: Le Domaine de Camboyer’s eight hectares of parkland are a joy to explore and there’s plenty to do on site - hire bikes, either electric or traditional to explore the local lanes; play a game of petanque or ping pong; or take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. The latter is surrounded by a vast terrace, perfect for soaking up the sun. The spa is also fabulously well equipped, with a sauna, whirlpool, massage chair and fitness space, plus an array of treatments.

  • Space to unwind: The domaine’s four salons provide space to relax, whatever the weather, with billiards, books and games to keep you entertained, TVs and projectors, cavernous fireplaces to warm you up and beautiful views across the park. There’s a tea lounge, bar and dedicated breakfast space (with honey from the domaine’s own hives and eggs from resident chickens), and the hotel can arrange a private chef to whip up something delicious for a special occasion.

How to get there

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport is about 40 minutes from Le Domaine de Camboyer, and there’s a station at Avignonet-Lauragais, seven minutes’ drive away – you can take a taxi from there to the domaine. The setting is quite rural, so a car is recommended to make the most of the fabulous setting.

Cambouyer, D43, 11320 Montferrand, France

The region of Occitanie nestles at the south west of France, meeting the Spanish border, and is home to some of the area’s loveliest cities: medieval Carcassonne, a vast, walled citadel broken up by soaring watchtowers and imposing fortifications, and terracotta Toulouse, known as the ‘pink city’ due to its rosy-hued buildings - the latter is bisected by the Garonne River and has plenty of bars and restaurants, especially around the bustling Place de Capitole. The surrounding countryside is replete with beautiful villages, perfect for lazy days exploring, and there’s much to see when discovering the region’s trails; the most famous follows the Canal du Midi, which is best explored on foot, by bike or via the water.
