  • Superb location: For those wishing to get under the skin of one of Paris' most artistic neighbourhoods, Hotel Ariane Montparnasse is perfect. The likes of Picasso and Matisse once lived and worked in this part of town, and the stylish design of this boutique hotel pays tribute to the area’s creative past.

  • Unique interiors: Paying homage to its enviable location on La Sablière – ‘the hourglass’ – the hotel is decorated around the theme of time, with beautiful old maps on the walls, ornaments inspired by vintage timepieces, and hourglass motifs in the wallpaper. Balancing it out are sleek, contemporary shared spaces and chic guest rooms, featuring premium bedding and spacious modern bathrooms for a comfortable and fuss-free stay.

  • Parisian mornings: However you like to kick off the day, you’ll find plenty of options at the hotel’s buffet breakfast. Start the day in typical Parisian style with a croissant or pain au chocolat, and top it up with a selection of savoury offerings, freshly-squeezed orange juice and delectable homemade cakes. As for the rest, Montparnasse's vibrant culinary scene is at your doorstep, from traditional bistros to Michelin-starred eats.

Location and what's nearby

35 Rue de la Sablière, 75014 Paris, France

Montparnasse has long been one of the most artsy and bohemian quarters in Paris. A Roaring Twenties hotspot, some of the world's most famous painters, writers and musicians flocked to the neighbourhood, from Henri Matisse to American expats Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Some of these luminaries, including Samuel Beckett and Jean-Paul Sartre, are buried at the nearby Montparnasse Cemetery; for an experience you won’t forget, head to the nearby Paris Catacombs, lined with the bones and skulls of thousands of Parisians. Back above ground, check out the Café de la Rotonde and Le Dôme, both popular storied meeting points for Montparnasse's famous residents. Further afield, Paris' artsy Rive Gauche (Left Bank) is all around you, and the nearby Pernety metro station is your gateway to bucket-list icons near or far.
