Dorfstrasse 155, 3818 Grindelwald, Switzerland

You might have heard the name in Harry Potter, but long before the wizard Grindelwald was given his name, the charming Swiss town of Grindelwald was wowing tourists with incredible views of the Bernese Alps and unforgettable winter and summer adventures. The town is one of Switzerland’s best-loved ski destinations, with multiple ski areas to enjoy, including Grindelwald-Wengen and Grindelwald-First, among others. Between them all, there are more than 265 kilometres of pistes; ski with views of the imposing mountains, race down World Cup runs, or learn the art of snow-ploughing in one of several training areas.

In summer, the mountains come alive with flora and natural beauty, with endless trails and paths for hikers, mountain bikers and climbers. For those who prefer a less active getaway, there are many traditional village experiences on offer: learn how to make cheese, explore the culinary history of the area or visit the Alpine Bird Park. You’re also just 30 minutes from the beauty of Interlaken.
