Historic former coaching inn stay in rural Wales - Refundable hotel
The Royal Oak, Welshpool, Wales
Property details
- Exclusive guest list: Enjoy a visit to The Royal Oak and you’ll be following in the footsteps of Her Majesty the Queen herself, who enjoyed a spot of lunch here when she visited Welshpool in 2010. As the former manor house of the Earl of Powis, before the hotel became an important coaching inn in 1927, she’s not the only VIP to have passed through these historic doors.
- Historic charm: Join the impressive roster and you’ll find a Grade II-listed design that dates back to the 18th century, plus plenty of modern charm. It also takes its hospitality seriously, serving up locally sourced ingredients and hand-pulled beers and ales by a working fireplace.
- Idyllic setting: As you’d expect of a former coaching inn, the hotel sits on the town’s main route and provides easy access to the Severn Valley, Offa’s Dyke and Snowdonia National Park beyond.
Good to know
Due to the building’s listed status, the hotel does not have a lift. Many rooms also require stair access.
Entry requirements
The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens.
