Property details

A gorgeous retreat in the chic town of Cabourg, in the beautiful region of Normandy – includes breakfast, optional dinner and more
  • Former millionaires' playground: Immortalised by novelist Marcel Proust, who spent many a summer here, the tiny Norman town of Cabourg is French coastal living at its most refined. Once a summer playground for wealthy Parisians and aristocrats, it still has a stately air, thanks to its wide promenade, English Channel waters, elegant Belle Époque villas and annual Cabourg Romantic Film Festival.

  • Rest and relaxation: Set just two hours from Paris, the pièce de résistance at Hotel les bains de Cabourg is the sea-facing thalassotherapy centre – a next-level spa kitted out with an indoor saltwater pool, a waterslide, a hammam, a sauna, a Jacuzzi and a series of hydromassage stations. There’s also a gym with state-of-the-art cardio and a little boutique that sells all sorts of marine-rich skincare products.

  • Home from home: Each of the rooms delights with 21st-century sensibilities. Expect on-trend hues, fashion-forward design and comfortable beds for the perfect night’s sleep. Equally impressive are the gourmet palate-pleasers served at the hotel restaurant which can be washed down with signature cocktails and healthy mocktails offered at the elegant bar.

How to get there

The hotel is just two hours from Paris with its regular flight and Eurostar connections and 35 minutes from Deauville – Normandie Airport. Saint-Gatien airport is also just 30 kilometres from the hotel, and Breche bus stop is only 400 metres away.

Location and what's nearby

static map

44 Avenue Charles de Gaulle, 14390 Cabourg, France

For coastal cool in northwest France, the tiny seaside town of Cabourg on the Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast) was the favoured hangout of French novelist Marcel Proust - he used it as a model for the fictional town of Balbec in his masterpiece In Search of Lost Time. Area highlights include taking the four-minute walk to the wide sands at Promenade Marcel Proust, marvelling at the town’s elegant Belle Époque villas, having a flutter at the period casino, and visiting nearby Caen - the capital of the Basse-Normandie region.

If time allows, it’s also worth checking out the countryside around Cabourg, known as Pays d'Auge, for its gentle hills, orchards, woodlands and little villages.
