Location and what's nearby

static map

Birkenallee 2, 7123 Mönchhof, Austria

Mönchhof can be found in the far southeast of Austria, close to the Hungarian and Slovakian borders. Nearby is the vast expanse of Neuseidlersee, an enormous lake of about 320 square kilometres that is, on average, only around a metre deep, making it ideal for swimming and paddle boarding. There are restaurants dotted around the reed- and meadow-lined shores, including Hamptons-esque Strandhaus Mörbisch, and elegant Seejungfrau, and a cycling trail to explore the lake’s perimeter. The Burgenland area is particularly famous for its birdwatching, so pack your binoculars, and there are a variety of vineyards in the local area which produce some fantastic, classically Austrian wines.
