Via Fornovo, 2, 00192 Roma RM, Italy

With the Tiber to one side and the Vatican to the other, it just doesn’t get much better than your prime pad in Rome’s elegant Prati neighbourhood. Start by wandering the storied streets of the city’s historic centre, lined with magnificent Renaissance architecture, hidden-gem museums and a generous sprinkling of high-end boutiques. A 25-minute stroll will see you reach none other than the Vatican City, where you’ll want to make time to explore St Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the marvellous Sistine Chapel.

After perusing the beautiful Vatican Gardens, head back down Via della Conciliazione all the way to the imposing Castel Sant’Angelo fortress, before crossing the Tiber to tick off Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. From here, you could either trace the city’s history walking from Piazza del Parlamento down to the Roman Forum and Colosseum, or head north past the grand palaces of the Colonna district to the enchanting gardens of Villa Borghese, which is also home to a world-famous art collection. And if that full-circle tour of the city isn’t enough for you, take a day-trip to the beautiful Frascati and Grottaferrata neighbourhoods, or peek inside the Pope’s summer residence at Castel Gandolfo.
