Cottage Lodge, Brockenhurst
Time-limited

Property details
- Woodland charm: Uncover the peacefulness of the past at Cottage Lodge, a charmingly renovated country dwelling that marries original features with cosy countryside chic. This family-run hotel sits just a short stroll from the ancient woodlands of the New Forest and all the small-town delights of a quintessential British country village. After exploring your magical surroundings, hole up in the snug with a locally-brewed beer or cider from the honesty bar, and sip your drink next to a glowing fire in the original stone fireplace, under timber beams reclaimed from a 17th century merchant ship.
- Locally-sourced food: At breakfast time, make your selection from a menu of tasty classics, whipped up with ingredients from the local village and the wider New Forest. Top your toast with locally-made jams and marmalades or honey from New Forest hives, or enjoy a classic full English made with the best of local produce. For a delicious dinner, there’s a fantastic selection of inviting pubs nearby, or you can treat yourself to a meal in the hotel’s cosy White Tails restaurant, where they serve up home-style favourites and scrumptious puddings.
- Forest slumbers: All of the guest rooms are individually designed with the forest in mind - expect solid wood furnishings and nods to nature in the chic décor. Some rooms add a whimsical touch with delicate floral designs and unique four-poster beds made from locally-sourced oak and sycamore, whilst others embrace the history of the hotel with traditional style and charm.

Location and what's nearby

You can also hop on your bicycle and explore parts of the forest unreachable by car. The Old Railway cycle trail will take you from Brockenhurst to Burley along ‘Castleman’s Corkscrew’, an old railway line named for the shape it cuts through the forest. When you reach Burley, be sure to stop for a few hours to explore the small village that gained fame in the fifties for its resident witch; plenty of occult-themed shops are still vending crystals and incense thanks to her legacy. You could also head off in the other direction towards Beaulieu, where Palace House, a 16th century gatehouse beautifully remodelled into a classic Victorian country home, sits overlooking the Beaulieu River millpond. Right next door, the ruins of 800 year old Beaulieu Abbey are the historic setting for atmospheric wanders through the gardens once used by the abbey monks.
