Briery Wood Country House Hotel is in a prime position for some of the most adventurous walks in the UK if you fancy wandering around the stunning Lake Windermere (the inspiration for William Wordsworth’s famed poetry and holiday home of Beatrix Potter) or scrambling up the rocky peaks to take on famous mountain hikes.

Ambleside, and the surrounding villages and hamlets, offer museums, churches and historical landmarks aplenty, or you can easily take the ferry to Bowness if you fancy venturing a little further.
