Fans of the Bard will find plenty to do in his hometown. You can visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace, just ten minutes from the hotel, and wander the halls of this 500-year old house as the famous wordsmith once did. Lots of other historical buildings in the town also have a place in Shakespeare’s history; stroll out to his wife, Anne Hathaway’s cottage, or go a little further afield to Wilmcote, where his mother’s beautiful farmhouse sits in a picturesque country village. While you’re in Stratford, be sure to catch a performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company at one of the theatres right opposite your hotel.

Other excitements around town include the Stratford Butterfly Farm, the UK’s largest butterfly sanctuary, and the Stratford Racecourse, where horseracing events take place regularly between March and October. You can also do some shopping in the many cute boutiques in town and at the Rother Street markets, where you’ll find artisan food stalls, local produce, vintage knick-knacks and handmade crafts, depending on the day.
