Your first destination is the famous Kinkaku-ji, the "Golden Pavilion", whose radiant façade is picturesquely reflected in the surrounding pond. This magnificent Zen temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Japan's most recognisable landmarks. Then, walk through the bright red Senbon Torii at Fushimi Inari Shrine. Bus tour from Tokyo with Nikkō Tōshō-gū, Kegon Falls & Lake Chūzenji (day 6 for 15-night version only)

A scenic bus tour takes you from Shinjuku to Nikkō Tōshō-gū, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its impressive architecture and historical treasures. Continue to the majestic Kegon Falls, which fascinates with its powerful beauty. Along the way, you'll pass Iropo, a scenic viewpoint, before reaching Lake Chūzenji. Here, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy your surroundings on a relaxing walking tour. Afterwards, the bus will take you back to Shinjuku.

Full-day snow monkey excursion with Zenkō-ji Temple (day 6 or 8 dependent on your chosen length of itinerary)

Start your excursion in Nagano with a visit to the Zenko-ji Temple, one of the oldest and most important Buddhist temples in Japan. After lingering in the tranquil atmosphere of this spiritual place, your journey continues to the famous Snow Monkey Park. Here, in the middle of the snowy forests, you can watch the famous Japanese macaques warming themselves in the hot springs. A unique nature experience that will enrich you with unforgettable impressions of the Nagano region.

Please note, the Snow Monkeys of Nagano at Jigokudani Monkey Park can be visited all year round, but the best time to see them in their famous hot spring baths surrounded by snow is in peak winter season. This takes place from December - March. During the warmer spring to autumn period (April – November), monkeys are present but may not frequent the hot springs as much.

Shirakawa-go, Hida Furukawa & Takayama Private Car Tour (day 8 or 10 dependent on your chosen length of itinerary)

With the help of your private driver, immerse yourself in a wonderful tour of Shirakawa-go, Hida Furukawa and Takayama. A nostalgic atmosphere of rural Japan will surround you as you firstly visit the UNESCO village of Shirakawa-go-, with its superbly preserved traditional houses. Then, your driver will take you to the enchanting canal lined streets of Hida-Furukawa before finally visiting the world-famous town of Takayama - famed for its elaborately and artistically decorated floats of the historic Takayama Festival.

Half-day guided tour of Osaka (day 14 for 15-night version only)

Discover Osaka on a private half-day guided tour tailored to your interests. Full-day bus tour to Hiroshima & Miyajima (day 13 or 15 dependent on your chosen length of itinerary)

Embark on an unforgettable full-day bus tour from Osaka to Hiroshima and Miyajima. First, the historic Hiroshima Castle is visited, followed by the Peace Monument and the Peace Museum, which commemorate the victims of the tragic atomic bombing. After a delicious lunch, continue to Miyajimaguchi Pier, from where the ferry will take you to the famous Itsukushima Shrine. There, the five-story pagoda and Toyokuni Shrine await you before free time is provided in the charming Omote Sando shopping street. At the end of the day, you'll start your return trip to Osaka.
