Location and what's nearby

Strandstraße 19, 25996 Wenningstedt, Germany

Hanging mysteriously in the shape of a bird in flight off the German-Denmark border, Sylt is the alluring playground of the North Frisian Islands. Since the 1960s, it's been a glamour-soaked speck in the North Sea, with glitterati swanning down its sandy shores and past its stripey lighthouses and well-preserved thatched cottages. Your shorefront hotel sits facing four-kilometre Wenningstedt Beach, that's neatly divided into sections - bathing beach, naturist beach, dog-friendly beaches, disabled access beaches and a surfing and kite-surfing area. Walk 350 metres from your door to begin walking along the traditional wooden 'dune path' that takes you three and a half kilometres to monied Kampen. At the end, climb up Uwe Dune for a panorama of Sylt and beyond.

From the hotel, walk 15 minutes to peek at the incredible Denghoog Neolithic passage grave. If you want to see Sylt of old, take a 15-minute to the 1739-built house Altfriesisches Haus. The island also houses golf courses for further leisurely downtime.
