Staying this close to the coast, you’ll get to enjoy plenty of fresh sea air as you wander along the beachfront promenade and down the long stone jetty. Pitch up on the sand with a picnic blanket and an ice cream as you enjoy views across the bay towards the Lakeland mountains. Further impressive scenery can be found in the national parks themselves; it’s less than an hour’s drive to the Lake District’s famous Windermere, and the Forest of Bowland is even closer at hand for stunning natural beauty and gorgeous walks. For more cultural pursuits, head inland to the Heritage City of Lancaster, where the medieval castle and the maritime museum are just some of the spots that might capture your interest.
