Property details

Refined and elegant five-star hotel in the heart of Lisbon, on the iconic Avenida da Liberdade, surrounded by designer stores and top-notch restaurants - includes breakfast, and a welcome drink
  • Sophisticated avenue: Where better to explore Lisbon’s hilly neighbourhoods, tucked-away bars, excellent shopping and buzzing eateries than from right in the heart of the action? 138 Liberdade Hotel’s central setting couldn’t be better for getting out and exploring: there are metro stations north and south, all the shops you could possibly imagine on the doorstep, and the whole of the Portuguese capital at your feet.

  • Elegant rooms: The hotel’s accommodation is artfully styled, with a monochrome colour palette and big, splashy prints of Lisbon on the walls. Each of the 72 rooms is spacious and modern, many with views over the avenue below, Lisbon’s tangle of rooftops or the hotel’s open terrace. Big beds, coffee machines, air conditioning and soundproof windows come as standard.

  • Dining in and out: There are a huge variety of restaurants in the area surrounding the hotel, but if you’d rather stay in, the 138 Restaurant serves delicious Portuguese cuisine with traditional dishes from around the country, made with fresh, locally sourced produce. Dine in the restaurant or on the relaxing open-air terrace, where you can also enjoy breakfast – there’s a full buffet, or you can order a la carte depending on what takes your fancy.

How to get there

Lisbon’s Humbergo Delgado Airport is a 20-minute taxi ride from 138 Liberdade Hotel. Alternatively, you can take the city’s affordable and efficient metro system. The nearest station, Avenida, is conveniently located just across the street from the hotel. From the airport, take the red line to São Sebastião, then switch to the blue line and exit at Avenida.

Av. da Liberdade 138 142, 1250-001 Lisboa, Portugal

Vibrant Lisbon undulates over a series of hills, rippling down to the mouth of the river Tagus in the south and the Atlantic Ocean in the west. The setting of the hotel is fantastically central, walkable to all the main districts, known as here barrios: ancient Alfama, fashionable Barrio Alto, the traditional Moorish Quarter, elegant Baixa and bustling Chiado, the latter with its famous café culture. There’s a huge amount to see on foot, strolling up and down narrow, azulejos-tiled streets and grand boulevards in search of Fado bars, ceramics shops and the city’s best pastel de nata (Portuguese egg custard tarts). For adventures further afield, you can rattle around the hills on the tram or jump on the metro.
