Take in the breathtaking river Arno views from a five-star spa hotel in central Florence – includes breakfast, a welcome drink, spa perks and more
  • Five-star charm: In a city of Renaissance architecture, the Hotel River & Spa is a monument to modern minimalism. Inside the romantic Florence pad, lavish rooms and elegant reception spaces are sleek and monochrome, offset by ornate ceiling frescoes and breath-taking views of the Arno River.

  • Mouthwatering authentic fare: The restaurant is equally slick, with angular leather chairs and gleaming glassware. Here, contemporary Tuscan cuisine cooked with a nod to local traditions can be enjoyed in a smart setting: try fresh homemade pasta, or indulgent desserts.

  • Soothing R&R: When you’re not pavement pounding around the historic streets of Florence, the spa provides a welcome diversion. Unwind in the sauna or Turkish bath, cool off in the invigorating sensory showers or book a personalised treatment.

How to get there

Hotel River & Spa is situated nine kilometres from Florence’s Peretola airport, which has seasonal flights from a number of UK airports. A wider choice of flights can be accessed from Pisa Airport (82 kilometres away), which is easily reached via train to Florence Santa Maria Novella station (two kilometres’ walk from the hotel). The train takes about two hours from Pisa Centrale station; you’ll need to use the PisaMover tram to get from the airport to the central station – but doing it this way means you can also tie in a trip to the Leaning Tower.

Location and what's nearby

Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia, 18, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy

From your base just 10 minutes’ walk from Piazza Santa Croce and the famous Ponte Vecchio, River Hotel & Spa, all of Renaissance Florence is at your feet. Perhaps take a turn around the museums: the Uffizi and the Galleria Accademia are breath-taking, while a trip to the Pitti Palace can be combined with a stroll through the blousy roses of the Boboli Gardens or Giardino delle Rose.

Shopaholics can sate their cravings in the designer stores – local shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo is a favourite – while all the gelato, mozzarella and black truffle you can dream of can be found in the Mercato Centrale. Bellissima!
