There’s a little something for everyone in Athens - whether you’re a culture vulture looking to hop across its landmark sights, or you’re after a more laid-back sojourn injected with nightlife thrills. If you’re one of the former, make a beeline for the Museum of Cycladic Art, marvel at the historic charms of the Plaka neighbourhood and while away an afternoon wandering amidst the ruins of the ancient agora. For the latter, stroll around the National Gardens, climb up Lycabettus Hill for grand views over the city and open-air concerts in summer, and head into Monastiraki - situated a stone’s throw from lively Agias Irinis Square - for an evening of clubbing and fun. Of course, no visit to Athens would be complete without an ascent to its Acropolis, the famous ancient citadel filled with architectural and historical intrigue, and from which you can take in striking panoramas over the city.
